HomeUS Visa Renewal

Renew your US visa without an interview

If your previous US visa expired recently in the same category, you may qualify for the interview waiver, the dropbox. We check, complete the DS-160, pay the fee and organise the drop-off for AED 2,500 + VAT per person.

Why renewal matters so much in the UAE. For most UAE residents the interview queue is the whole problem. If you qualify for the interview waiver you skip that queue completely and simply drop your passport and documents at a centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. It is the single biggest time-saver in US visa work, and many people do not realise they qualify.

Do you qualify?

ConditionTypically required
Same categoryRenewing the same class, for example B1/B2 to B1/B2
Recent expiryPrevious full validity visa expired within the recent window the US mission allows
Clean historyNo prior refusal, and the previous visa was not lost, stolen or cancelled
Where you applyIn your country of nationality or of legal residence, so a valid UAE residence visa
Biometrics on fileFingerprints were taken with the previous application

These criteria are set by the US Department of State and have been tightened and loosened more than once. Eligibility is finally confirmed by the official appointment system, so we check your case against the rules as they stand on the day rather than assuming.

What we do

  • Eligibility check against the current interview waiver rules before any work begins
  • DS-160 completion, because errors here are the most common cause of a forced interview
  • MRV fee of USD 185 paid for you, and the appointment system handled
  • Drop-off appointment organised at the document centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi
  • Drop-off pack prepared: photo, confirmation pages, previous visa, passport and supporting documents
  • Tracking until the passport is back, and 221(g) support if the consulate asks for more
Qualifying for the waiver means you skip the interview. It does not mean approval is guaranteed. A consular officer can still call you in or issue a 221(g). Never book non-refundable travel until the visa is physically in your passport.

Renewal questions

What is the interview waiver, or dropbox?

It is the US Department of State route that lets some applicants renew a visa without attending an interview. You submit your passport and documents at a drop-off centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi instead of appearing at the Embassy or Consulate. People call it dropbox because that is literally what you do with the file.

Who qualifies for a renewal without an interview?

The rules change and are set by the US mission, but the shape is consistent: you are renewing the same visa category, your previous visa was full validity and expired recently, it was not lost, stolen, cancelled or refused, you had no prior refusal, and you are applying in the country where you are a national or a legal resident. The official appointment system makes the final call, and we check you against the rules on the day rather than assuming.

How much does it cost?

AED 2,500 + VAT per person. That includes the US government MRV visa fee of USD 185, which we pay for you, the complete DS-160 and the drop-off appointment. There is nothing further to pay to the US government.

How long does a renewal take?

Usually far less than the interview route, because you skip the interview queue entirely, but processing times are set by the US mission and move with demand. Do not book non-refundable travel until the passport is back with the new visa inside it.

Does dropbox mean my renewal is approved?

No. It means you skip the interview. A consular officer still reviews the application and can call you in for an interview or issue a 221(g) request for more documents. We support you through both if they happen.

My visa expired several years ago. Can I still renew by dropbox?

Usually not. The waiver generally requires the previous visa to have expired within a recent window. If you fall outside it you are on the standard interview route, and our B1/B2 appointment packages are built for exactly that.

Can my family renew at the same time?

Yes, if each person qualifies in their own right. The price is per person and we prepare the family in one file so the drop-off happens together.

What happens on drop-off day?

You take the pack we prepared, your passport and your previous visa to the document centre at the time we booked. The centre forwards the file to the consulate. We track it and tell you when the passport is ready for collection or delivery.
