If you meet the interview waiver conditions, the US Embassy in Manila’s appointment system routes you to the waiver process, and you hand in your documents at the Visa Application Center in Parañaque or at a 2GO Express premium location. You have to be in the Philippines to hand over your passport and get it back, so plan your home leave around the processing time.
US Mission UAE status, checked 24 September 2026: “While the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate in Dubai are open, routine visa processing is not available in the United Arab Emirates at this time.” (US Embassy and Consulate in the UAE, Visas page, updated 18 September 2026). The State Department tells applicants to book in their “country of residence or nationality”, so the Philippines is open to you as a Filipino citizen.
Is the US visa dropbox open in the Philippines in 2026?
Yes. The Philippines page on ustraveldocs.com, the official appointment information site, describes the interview waiver route as running. The US Embassy in Manila says applicants “must sign-up or login to the www.usvisascheduling.com/ to start the scheduling process. The system will determine whether you qualify for Interview Waiver” or need a biometrics appointment and an interview.
Has anything changed in 2026? We found no 2026 change to the waiver criteria on the Embassy or ustraveldocs Philippines pages. The one 2026 change is to the courier fees: from 17 April 2026 the 2GO Express premium drop-off, pick-up and home delivery charge went up to Php 750 per applicant as a “temporary price adjustment” (ustraveldocs Philippines). One thing to be aware of: the Embassy’s own notice of 30 July 2025 still gives 2 September 2025 as the start date of the current rules. The State Department replaced that update with its Interview Waiver Update of 18 September 2025, in force since 1 October 2025. For a B1/B2 renewal the conditions are the same.
Who qualifies for the dropbox in Manila
These conditions come from the ustraveldocs Philippines “Renew my visa” page and the State Department rule. Every family member must meet them on their own.

Meeting every condition does not mean automatic approval. How the Manila dropbox works, step by step
- Complete the DS-160 on ceac.state.gov and print the confirmation page.
- Create or open your profile on usvisascheduling.com, choose “Start Application” and answer every question. Enter your document delivery address carefully, because the page warns that call centre agents “may not be able to assist you in correcting/updating this information.”
- Pay the visa fee. Check the visa type and amount first, because “all visa fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.”
- If you qualify, the system takes you to the Interview Waiver Confirmation page. Print the confirmation letter.
- Drop off your documents at a partner office, following the instructions on your letter.
- The courier delivers your documents to the Consular Section, and an officer decides whether to issue the visa without an interview.
- Your passport comes back by the delivery option you chose, or you get an email asking you to attend an interview.

The ustraveldocs Philippines pages list these options. The charges are those of the Embassy’s courier partner, not ours.

If you already prepaid the old Php 630 premium charge before 17 April 2026, the page says no extra charge will be collected.
What to bring
- Your printed Interview Waiver confirmation letter
- Your current passport
- Your DS-160 confirmation page
- Your previous passport with the US visa (the original, not photocopies)
- One colour photo, 5 cm x 5 cm, white background, taken within the last six months, with no eyeglasses (see our US visa photo guide)
Send only the listed documents. The page warns that “other documents will not be returned and will be destroyed.” Make sure your DS-160 matches your passport exactly. Our list of common DS-160 mistakes is worth a read before you submit.
Timing and travel planning from the UAE
- Processing time. The Philippines scheduling page says visa processing “is typically three working days”, but that is a general figure and individual cases vary. The renewal page adds: “Only send in your passport once you have sufficient time to wait for processing.” Leave a generous buffer before your flight back to the UAE, because you cannot travel without your passport.
- Fees. The B1/B2 fee is USD 185. A fee paid in the UAE cannot be moved to Manila, so you pay again through the Philippines payment options.
- Fee validity and reschedules. The Philippines page says fees “are valid for one calendar year” and that applicants “are only allowed to reschedule two times (not including the initial appointment) without penalty.”
- Your return to the UAE. Check that your UAE residence and Emirates ID stay valid for your return date. If you work in the UAE as an OFW, also confirm your return requirements with the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers before you fly home.
- Your US trip. “Do not buy a ticket or make firm travel plans until you have your renewed visa in hand.”

If you do not qualify, or the officer calls you in
Manila is one of the shorter queues right now. The State Department’s wait-time table, updated 17 September 2026, shows the next available B1/B2 interview in Manila as “< 0.5 Month”. That compares with 11.5 months in Dubai and 12.5 months in Abu Dhabi. If you need an interview, you first attend a biometrics appointment at the VAC at least one day before the interview at the Embassy. Children under 5 do not need to go to the VAC, but you bring their photo. Wait times change weekly, so check the table before you book leave.
